NATIONAL TOILET EXPO & FORUM 2008
“ZERO DIRTY TOILET – OUR COMMITMENT”

INTRODUCTION
Kuala Lumpur – With the overwhelming success from last year’s National Toilet Expo & Forum (NATEF) 2007, NTCC and QRAM are excited about making NATEF 2008 another milestone towards realising clean toilets a culture of our nation.

Scheduled to take place from 12th to 14th November 2008 in Seremban, the Forum is expected to attract 500 professionals, government officials, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), companies and individuals from all over the country. The Expo is expected to attract major industry players and some 10,000 visitors.

Participants will also have the opportunity to gain a better insight into the clean toilet efforts by the local authorities and NGOs. Technical visits to markets, schools, coffee shops, parks and tourist attractions will enable participants to share and experience the local culture.

THE OBJECTIVES
The following are the objectives of NATEF:
* To showcase the latest toilet designs, technologies and services in Malaysia.
* To create and promote public awareness on the importance of maintaining quality and clean toilets for healthier life in Malaysia.
* To provide a platform for industrial players and professionals to network, share and exchange ideas on quality toilet designs, products and services.

ORGANISER, HOST, CO-HOSTS, & SUPPORTERS
NATEF 2008 was initiated by the Ministry of Housing And Local Government (Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan) through the Local Government Department (Jabatan Kerajaan Tempatan) and National Toilet Cleanliness Council (NTCC). It will be organised by Quality Restroom Association of Malaysia (QRAM) and hosted by the Seremban Municipal Council (SMC). NATEF 2008 is supported by various relevant Government Ministries, professional bodies, NGO’s, Local Authorities and industry players.

THE THEME
Choosing the theme “ZERO DIRTY TOILET – OUR COMMITMENT!”, the organisers hope the simple message will be a reminder for all to work together in becoming a nation known for her clean toilets.

THE FORUM
Well-known international speakers are being invited to present an interesting mix of plenary lectures. Renowned speakers such as Mr. Koo U E, the Chairman of Japan Toilet Association; Mr. Trevor Mulaudzi, a geologist in the rural north west of South Africa. Other foreign speakers presenting papers are from Thailand, Indonesia, Korea and Nepal. Local speakers are from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, local councils and industrial players.

The Forum will be an excellent platform for exchange of information, ideas and know-how with local and international experts on toilet-related issues.

The Forum will be held at Seremban Municipal Hall, Seremban from 12th to 14th November 2008. The cost will be RM300 per delegate, inclusive of one dinner seat, Post NATEF visit and Forum materials.

THE EXPO
The Expo will be a strategic venue for local industry players showcasing their latest toilet technologies and products, connect with government officials, purchasers and key persons from commercial and retail facilities. It also offers a convenient one-stop shop for visitors/buyers to source solutions and innovations for the improvement of their toilet facilities.

The EXPO will be held in Seremban from 12th to 14th November 2008. The cost is RM1,500 per booth for QRAM members and RM2,000 per booth for non-QRAM members.

HALF-DAY TOILET CLEANING & MAINTENANCE COURSE
Two (2) half-day toilet cleaning and maintenance course sessions will be organised on 11th November 2008. The cost of the half-day course if RM100 per pax for participants of NATEF Forum and RM150 for non-participants.

COMPETITIONS
NATEF will also be organizing a National Quality Toilet Competition prior to the event and the winners will be announced during the show. Furthermore, a Song or Jingle Competition for QRAM will also be held prior to the event. Registration forms can be downloaded at NATEF-Brochure-2008.

BEST NEWS REPORTING & COVERAGE
QRAM is in the midst of collating media coverages on the issue of toilets and in line with this, we would be running a competition on the best news coverage and best news report/stories on the issue. This concerns both the print and the electronic media. Total prizes are worth RM6,000 per category. Submissions begins today and end on October 31st, 2008. NATIONAL TOILET CLEANLINESS COUNCIL (NTCC)
The NTCC is a council formed in KPKT consisting of relevant Government Ministries, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, NGO’s and industry players entrusted with the task of changing the image of toilets in the country. It is the aspiration of the NTCC that the event will mark the beginning of better changes in the toilet environment in the country. It is also hoped that with greater awareness of the benefits of clean, healthy toilets and quality of life and the need for toilet improvements, the toilet-related and sanitary ware industry will grow due increased demand of their quality products. Ultimately, it is the vision of the NTCC and of the country to establish ‘A Clean, Healthy Toilet Culture’. Achieving the vision will require the co-operation, support and commitment of all stakeholders.
