National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) will be commissioning

2 one-hour documentaries shot in High Definition with budgets up to US$200,000 per program.

Submission Guidelines

The contest is open to Malaysian production companies.The films must be primarily shot in Malaysia.

Preferred Themes

Building a Modern World
From skyscrapers to super highways to the world’s busiest port, how does our modern world work? Look behind the world’s engineering and architectural marvels.

Science and Technology
Through powerful human stories, take us behind the scenes of scientific breakthroughs that will define our world and change our future.

We’ve gone inside the White House, inside the Forbidden City and inside Mecca. Where can you take us next? Gain unique access to extraordinary places or events.

Give us a new vision of the action and drama in the animal kingdom Show us cutting edge filming techniques and technology that reveal extraordinary stories and behaviour in nature’s hidden worlds.

Broad subject surveys
Educational programs
Soft travelogues and lifestyle programs
Children’s programs
Art house films

Who is eligible to enter?

The contest is open to Malaysian production companies registered with FINAS. At least 50% of production personnel must be Malaysian citizens or permanent residents.

What is the submission process?

Send in an original proposal by 31 May 2008.

Each submission MUST include the following:
Program Proposal with one page executive summary
Detailed budget
Estimated Production Schedule and Delivery Date
Production Team Biography
VHS or DVD sample of previous work
Pitch/character reel (if available)
Signed waiver for submission of new ideas (release form is attached)
