DEADLINE: 15 September 2007
THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) is urging all its residents to raise the national flag in conjunction with the 50th Independence celebration.
Under its Jom Kibar campaign, the residents in Subang Jaya, Puchong and Seri Kembangan have been told to get into the Merdeka mood by putting up the Jalur Gemilang in front of their homes.
MPSJ public relations officer Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said the campaign aimed to instill pride among Malaysians for their country.
“To encourage the public to raise the Jalur Gemilang, we are having a lucky draw dip with 50 attractive prizes awaiting those who participate in this campaign,” Azfarizal said during the launch of the campaign at Taman Puchong Perdana recently.
He said the MPSJ had so far distributed 4,900 flags to residents.
Council president Adnan Md Ikhsan said the campaign was in conjunction with the National Day celebration as well as the MPSJ 10th anniversary.
In his speech, he also urged residents to take part in the SJ 10km Run that will be held on Aug 26.
“This run is a very good annual event and we deliberately made it coincide with the National Day celebrations.”
Those who wish to participate in the campaign can send an SMS by typing kibarnameaddress and send to 33321. The campaign is on until Sept 15 and throughout this time, the flags must be displayed.
