Malaysian Art Competition 2007

One JAS Art Award – RM3000.00 + trophy.
One Renewed Group Art Award – RM3000.00 + trophy.
Eight Distinction Awards – RM500.00 + trophy each.

The aim of the Competition is to bring before the public the best of the art of painting by local artists, and encourages support for painting as a vital, enduring, and expressive medium.

The Competition is open to all Malaysian citizens who are 18 years old and above.

This is a two-dimensional art competition. Any paintings in acrylic, batik, collage, oil, watercolor, pastel, Chinese painting, ink or other medium are acceptable.
Entrants may paint on any subject or theme. However, the paintings must be original and recent works of the entrants.
Entrants should not submit work that has been entered in previous local or international art exhibitions/competitions.

There are altogether 10 prizes.

One Renewed Group Art Award – RM3000.00 + trophy.
Eight Distinction Awards – RM500.00 + trophy each.
An entrant can only win one prize.
All winning paintings remain the property of the entrants.
The Organizers are assigned the right of reproduction of their paintings in the press, television, catalogues, and other publicity materials (e.g. brochures, calendars, greeting cards, etc.) produced in connection with the exhibition or otherwise before, during, or after the Competition.

A panel of well- known local or overseas artists/ art connoisseurs/ art critics appointed by the Johor Art Society will judge entries.
The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence may be entered into on this subject before, during, or after the competition.
The Organizers reserve the right not to award any of the advertised prizes should entries fail, in the judge’s opinion, to meet the required standards.
All entrants of the Competition will be informed of the Results by post.

All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form (Photostat copy acceptable), a photo copy of the entrant’s identity card, and an entry fee of RM20.00 (please make checks payable to JOHOR ART SOCIETY).
Each entrant may submit a maximum of three paintings.
Paintings should be of reasonable size (not larger than 120cm x 120cm, inclusive of the frame) and properly framed (no glass) or be ready for exhibition.
Entries should be submitted to JP Perdana sales office, JP Perdana, Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru latest by 6pm 18th August 2007.

All prize-winning and highly recommended entries will be exhibited at JP Perdana sales office from 10th September 2007 to 30th September 2007.
Prizes will be presented to the winners at the opening ceremony of the exhibition on 9th Sept 2007.
20% of the sales proceeds will be contributed to Johor Art Society. All entries are considered for sale unless specified NFS.

Entries that are not exhibited must be collected on 7th September 2007. Entries that are exhibited but not sold must be collected on 5th October 2007. Collection must be done at JP Perdana sales office from 10am to 5pm.
Uncollected entries after one month of the exhibition will consider as the property of the organizers and will be disposed in whatever way they deemed fit.

Submission of entries signified the acceptance of the rules and regulations of the Competition. The organizers will by all means take good care of the entries submitted. However, the organizers will not be responsible to any loss and damages before, during or after the competition.
