DESCRIPTION:
Organisation
The Maxis Team Golf Tour 2007 (MTGT 2007 – ‘The Tour’) is organised by Malaysian Mobile Services Sdn Bhd (MMSSB) and conducted according to the Rules of Golf as laid down by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, Local Rules of participating clubs and Maxis Unique Rules. The Tour is administered by the Tournament Committee – therein known as ‘The Committee’ – whose decision on all matters is final.

Tournament Committee
Chairman – Danny Tang; Tour Coordinators – Edward Chin, Amy Wong, Henry Goh; Tournament Director – Ibrahim Joe Carlos; Technical Director – Kenny Gregory.

Format
The Tour is a three-person team combined Stableford event open to golfers with valid handicaps of up to 24 for men and 36 for ladies. Men shall play off the Maxis Blue tees and women off the Maxis Red tees unless otherwise specified.

Grand Final
The winning team of each qualifying round shall qualify for the Grand Final. The Best Individual based on stableford points per round will also qualify for the Grand Final. Should the Best Individual be part of the winning team, the next best individual will then qualify for the Grand Final. Qualifying for the grand final is based on the Maxis Unique Rules – not more than 39 stableford points.

Eligibility
The Tour is open to amateur golfers aged 18 years and above who are registered (post-paid) Maxis customers holding accounts for a minimum of 60 days in their names only. Entries are on a first-come first-served basis with priority to Maxis One Club members according to the following guidelines:

Priority 1 – Three Maxis One Club members
Priority 2 – Two Maxis One Club members paired with a registered Maxis customer
Priority 3 – One Maxis One Club customer paired with two registered Maxis customers

Each participant is allowed up to three qualifying attempts. Their third attempt must be with two new partners who are participating for the first time. Participants may compete in more than three attempts but subject to availability of spots and at Maxis’s discretion. Teams or players who have qualified for the Grand Final may not be entitled to play in remaining rounds.

Entries
Registration is through the official entry forms complete with the registration fee of RM744 per team (RM248 per participant). The Organisers are not responsible for entries lost in the mail and reserve the right to refuse entries without providing any reason whatsoever.

Maxis Unique Rules
In accordance with the Maxis Unique Rules, individual scores that surpass 39 stableford points shall be adjusted to 39 — therefore a team cannot score more than 117 points. In cases of ties, final positions shall be determined by count back starting with lowest combined handicap; actual combined stableford score of last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes, last hole etc. Last nine refers to holes 10-18 of the scorecard regardless of starting tee box.

Handicaps
Participants must own a club or USGA (MGA) approved handicap of up to 24 for men and 36 for ladies. Failure to declare the lowest handicap at any time may result in disqualification. In accordance with the Maxis Arbitrary Stroke Reduction (MASR) chart, handicaps shall be revised should a participant win a prize (other than Novelty or Lucky Draw) and competes in further qualifying rounds. The Committee also reserves the right to assign handicaps as they deem fit, within reason and as allowed within the Rules of Golf.

The maximum combined handicaps per team are: 3-man – 48. Mixed – 56. 3-ladies – 68.

National Handicapping System
In accordance with Malaysian Golf Association’s tournament committee policy, participants will be assigned a temporary handicap for a venue based on their USGA Indexes against the slope rating of the respective venues. Golfers not within the jurisdiction of the National Handicapping System (NHS) may take part in The Tour subject to a mandatory 20% reduction of their current club handicap. Thereafter, the golfer will be provided with a temporary index for the remainder of The Tour. The Organisers reserve the right to reject an entry without giving any reason whatsoever.

Finalists of 2006 may compete in MTGT 2007 qualifying rounds with:
(a) Handicap / Handicap Index as assigned to them for the 2006 Grand Final,
(b) Revised handicap / Handicap Index in accordance with the MASR chart based on scores returned at the Final or,
(c) Current home club Handicap / handicap Index, whichever of the above is lowest.

Grand Final 2007
Handicaps in the Grand Final for 2007 will be based on:
(a) Their combined Handicap / Handicap Index declared during the preliminary round,
(b) The revised Handicap / Handicap Index in accordance with the MASR chart based on scores returned at preliminary rounds or,
(c) Their current home club Handicap / Handicap Index, whichever of the above is lowest.

Individuals who qualify for the Grand Final will be grouped into teams after a manual selection made by The Committee. All finalists will be eligible for Team and Individual prizes.

Prizes per round
Five (5) Team; two (2) Individual; one (1) gross; three (3) Novelty, Hole-In-One and Lucky Draw. Players who win prizes in the Team / Individual / Novelty categories are not eligible for the Lucky Draw. Invited guests of Maxis and their sponsors are eligible to contest the Hole-In-One prizes offered.
