TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR THE SINGAPORE AT WORLD EXPO 2010 CONTEST
1. Information on the Singapore at World Expo 2010 Contest is set out here. The information provided forms part of the terms and conditions of submission. Submission is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. Submission is open to all individuals, regardless of nationality and country of residence.
3. Submissions must be original creations. In the event that the submission contains references to the work of other individuals or organisations, including any copyrighted materials, it is the responsibility of the participant to secure any necessary permissions and/or licences, and to give attribution where due. Singapore Tourism Board (hereby named as STB) and its affiliates and partners (hereinafter referred to as the organiser) accept no responsibility for the infringement of any copyright or intellectual property laws caused by the creation or submission of the work.
4. Works that have previously been published, or have won awards or prizes in competitions may be submitted. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the participant to secure any necessary permission and/or licence from the relevant authorities and/or organisations to submit the said work to STB. STB and its affiliates and partners accept no responsibility for the infringement of any proprietary rights caused by submission of such works. The participant must indicate in the write-up if the work has been published or has won awards or prizes in competitions.
5. Submissions must not contain any credit mention or acknowledgement. Any credit mention and acknowledgement may be in description of the work.
6. STB has the right to reject entries containing obscene, racist, unethical, dangerous, violent or legally objectionable material, or material that may infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights. Such entries will be immediately disqualified from the competition.
7. Submission for the Singapore at World Expo 2010 Contest commences on Monday 25 Aug 2008, 0000 hours and closes on Wednesday 31 Dec 2008, 2359 hours. STB accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries.
8. The most creative, original and relevant entries will be selected by a panel of judges comprising STB and its affiliates and partners. Participants are invited to submit as many works as they like. Therefore it is possible that the same person might have more than one selected work. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Should the quality of entries not meet the judges’ criteria, STB reserves the right not to award any prizes in this Contest.
9. The top winners will be announced by February 2009 and they will be notified by email or phone. Winners will be notified on the prize collection details. The winners’ names will also be published on the contest website in February 2008. STB reserves the right to forfeit a prize in the event that a winner is unable to satisfy the terms and conditions.
10. The incorporation of winning entries into Singapore’s pavilion at the World Expo 2010 is entirely at STB’s discretion. STB reserves the right to use or omit any entries where appropriate, subject to feasibility. The final implemented ideas can and may vary from their original submitted form.
11. All submitted entries for the contest will be considered property of STB and will be used at their discretion.
12. Prizes are not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable for other goods or services. “Best-in-Category” prizes must be collected by 31 March 2009. Grand Prizes must be collected by 31 August 2010. If the prizes are not collected by their respective dates, they will be forfeited. STB reserves the right to substitute prizes where appropriate.
13. Submitted entries may be incorporated as part of Singapore’s pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. For the purpose of showcasing selected entries, STB may require a high quality copy of the selected work from the participants. STB will assist the participants in producing this high quality copy where necessary.
14. Each participant (with valid contact information and email address) may submit multiple entries.
15. STB will not be responsible for any damages to person or belongings caused as a result of participation in the contest.
16. STB and its partners have the right to use all submitted entries in any promotional materials. Where appropriate, participants will be duly acknowledged.
17. Submitted entries remain the property of STB. STB and its partners are granted non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide rights in perpetuity to utilise each submission in whole or in part for any promotional/archival purposes.
18. STB and its affiliates are not liable for any legal claims against the products/services (including, but not limited to, their performance, quality and warranty) for any of the prizes given.
19. All employees of STB, affiliates and their agencies in relation to their campaign, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in this contest.
20. STB reserves the right to change, amend or withdraw the rules and regulations without prior notice. Any such amendments will be updated on this website accordingly.
21. In case of any customer misconduct, STB reserves the right to disqualify entries.
22. Specifications for submissions are as follows. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify entries which do not meet the stated requirements.

23. If, for any reason, this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the organiser which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, the organiser reserves the right in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, or may benefit from such tampering, and, subject to the approval of those authorities that have issued permits for the conduct of this contest, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.
24. In case of any disputes, the decision of the organiser shall be final and binding. STB reserves the right to vary or modify any of the above terms and conditions.
