Art contest for Subang Jaya kids on June 22

CHILDREN will get the opportunity to show their artistic talents in the annual Subang Jaya Children’s Art Competition on June 22 and their entries will also be flown to Japan to be entered in the Pentel International Art Contest.

“This year, the competition is only open to Subang Jaya residents or students from schools in this area.

“Anyone can join the competition in previous years and by doing that, we have strayed from our objective of promoting activities for the local residents and hope to amend this,” Rukun Tetangga USJ2/USJ6 chairman and organiser Ang How Chuan said.

Also present at the press conference to announce the event was Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne.

“I wanted to be an artist when I was younger but I never had the opportunity to pursue a career in it. Parents should encourage their children to pursue their passion whether it be arts or music or anything else,” Loh said.

The chosen theme this year is “My Dream Holiday” and the participation is limited to 500 entries.

Category A is a colouring contest for children aged five and six.

Children aged betwen seven and nine are under the B category, 10 to 12 under C while 13 to 15 under D. These three categories are drawing contests.

The E category is a colouring contest for mentally-challenged children while the F category is for foreign students from Japanese schools.

Each category has a first, second and third prize and 10 consolation prizes. Entry forms are available at USJ 2 and 6 Petronas service stations and The Summit Complex.

1. The Sony Time Count Kigo Contest shall be held from 15 May 2008 to 31 August 2008.
