Terms and Conditions:

All participants in the contest are bound by the following terms and conditions:

1. We, the Singapore Tourism Board, are holding prize draws to encourage users of our website (http://www.visitsingapore.com/weekends) to sign up for our free e-newsletter.

2. Users that sign up for the e-newsletter on our website and are eligible to enter our prize draws have a chance to participate in our monthly prize draws, subject to these terms and conditions.

Mechanics of the draw

3. There will be 12 draws and 12 prizes to be won throughout the 12 months of the contest. There is one draw per month and one winner will be selected and awarded a prize.

4. The winner of each draw will be chosen at random. Each draw will be held at the drawing venue stated below and witnessed by members of our contest organizing team, as well as an internal auditor.

5. The drawing venue is the Brand Management Department, Singapore Tourism Board, Tourism Court, 1 Orchard Spring Lane, Singapore 247729.

6. All draws will take place at 5:00 pm, Singapore time (GMT+8) on the following draw dates:

8. The winner of each draw will be notified by email or post sent within 14 working days after the draw date. Each winner shall acknowledge receipt of such notice in the manner and within the time limit we prescribe, failing which we shall be entitled to treat the prize as forfeited and to select another winner.

9. A list of winners will also be announced on our Uniquely Singapore Weekends website (http://www.visitsingapore.com/weekends) until 31 August 2008.

10. All winners are required to claim their prize within 30 days of the date of our notification. All unclaimed prizes shall be forfeited or disposed off accordingly, subject to Section 11 below.

11. We may select any number of reserve winners in any priority for any draw as we deem necessary to replace any winners who fail to acknowledge receipt of our notification of their win or who fail to claim their prizes within the period of time specified above or as we otherwise stipulate, or who have been disqualified or found ineligible to participate in the draw.

12. All winners travelling to Singapore to claim or use their prizes shall do so at their own arrangements, risk and expense.

Eligibility

13. The draw is open only to persons residing in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Johor Bahru (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), Jakarta (Indonesia), Guangzhou (People’s Republic of China), Chennai (India) and Hong Kong SAR, provided they are not (1) Singapore citizens residing in the aforementioned cities, (2) employees of STB (including employees of its representative offices), (3) employees of authorised agencies and principal sponsors, or (4) immediate family members of persons described in (2) and (3) above.

14. Corporate or other entities are not eligible for the draws.

15. No person under twenty-one (21) years of age shall be eligible to participate in the draws or win a prize.

16. Each user is eligible to win only one prize for the duration of the contest. Once a user wins a prize in any draw, he/she will not be eligible for further draws and his/her name will be removed from the list of eligible entries in such further draws.

17. Multiple entries per person is not permitted.

18. All information submitted must be true, accurate, complete and up to date. Entries that do not meet this requirement will be disqualified.

Prizes

20. All prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash, credit or benefit in-kind and are not inclusive of foreign duties (if any) and other related expenses, all of which are the sole responsibility of the winners.

21. All prizes are subject to the validity periods and any other terms and conditions as may be imposed by the prize sponsors.

Rights of STB

22. We reserve the right at any time in our absolute discretion and without prior notice to any participants:

i. To cancel or modify the draws;

ii. To make changes to these terms and conditions, whereupon all participants shall be bound by the terms and conditions as varied by us; and/or

iii. To substitute, withdraw or cancel any prize or prize sponsor without disclosing any reason therefore and without any payment or compensation whatsoever.

23. Our decisions on all matters relating to the draws, including but not limited to the eligibility of any entry, the selection of any winners and the award, forfeiture or disposal of any prize, are final, conclusive and binding on all participants, and no correspondence will be entertained.

Obligations of participants and winners

24. By entering any draw, participants consent to the public disclosure by us of their names, identification numbers and the reproduction, adaptation and translation into any language and publication by us.

25. Each participant warrants and undertakes to us that he/she is the participant named on the entry and that all information submitted is true, accurate, complete and up to date to the best of his/her knowledge. Participants shall provide us with such proof of identity, residence and/or citizenship as we may require from time to time.

26. Participants further agree to participate in, at his/her own expense, prize presentation ceremonies and all other publicity events in Singapore or elsewhere in relation to the draws, without payment or compensation. In addition, to be eligible for the prizes, all winners shall sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, release of liability, publicity release giving us and/or our advertising and promotion agencies permission to use his/her name, picture, image and voice for publicity purposes connected with this promotion without payment or compensation. Failure to provide such documents to us duly signed or to comply with any term and conditions therein shall result in disqualification or ineligibility for prizes.

Liability

27. We and our representative offices, authorised agencies and sponsors, and the directors, officers, employees and assignees thereof (individually and collectively the “Organiser”) shall not be liable for (1) any claims, damages, losses, injury or inconvenience arising out of or in connection with the draws, any participation in the draws or any prize, including without limitation any loss or disqualification of any entry and any delay in, or failure or omission to provide the contest or any prize or the award thereof to any person; (2) any event of force majeure, including without limitation any calamity or conditions, acts of God, war or warlike hostilities, civil commotion, riots, blockades, embargoes, sabotages, strikes, fires, lockouts, shortages of material or labour, terrorist activity, epidemic, quarantine restrictions, health risk or any other occurrence beyond our reasonable control or that of any of our representative offices, authorized agencies and sponsors; (3) any entries or other communications that have been lost, late, illegible, incomplete, tampered with, corrupted, mutilated, misdirected or undelivered for any reason; or (4) any defect, failure, interruption, breakdown, malfunction, delay or unavailability of any postal services, machine, computer system, hardware, software, data processing system, email account, communications network or transmission link or other cause that in any way prevents or limits any person’s ability to submit a valid entry to the draws or receive communications or that causes any damage to any person’s computer systems.

28. Each participant (including his/her heirs, executors and/or administrators) shall indemnify and hold the Organiser harmless from and against any and all claims, losses or damage arising out of or in connection with the draws, any prize, any breach of any obligation or warranty set out these terms and conditions and/or his/her acts or omissions in relation thereto and hereby releases and discharges the Organiser from any and all such claims, losses and damage arising out of or in connection thereto.

General

29. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, and all participants and winners submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore Courts in the determination of any matter or dispute arising in connection therewith.

30. These terms and conditions are not intended to confer rights on any third party, whether pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap 53B) or otherwise, and no third party shall have any right to enforce any provision of these terms and conditions.
